Joseph Freedman, OD is a partner of North Shore Contact Lens & Vision Consultants, P.C; a Roslyn, NY referral based optometric practice specializing in contact lenses, keratoconus, dry eye and related ocular surface disorders, refractive surgery complications and diseases of the anterior segment of the eye.  He also serves as director of research and development for a nutritional research and consulting company.

Dr. Freedman developed the first medically recognized nutritional protocol to prevent cataracts. He has authored numerous articles and scientific papers with an emphasis on the impact of nutrition on vision. His widely acclaimed articles offer a nutritional approach for the treatment or prevention of many ocular disorders including: glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, allergic conjunctivitis and keratoconus.  These articles are available to our patients.

As a consultant to the natural products and pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Freedman was instrumental in formulating many products for both ocular and various health conditions.  He is currently involved with the Parker Hughes Cancer in Minnesota developing a chemo preventive for breast cancer.   He is also actively researching several compounds that can reduce elevated cholesterol levels and treat heart failure and cardio myopathy.
